In honor of the victims of Sandy Hook, Jack Madigan, principal of Stillwater Elementary, is offering a workshop “Healing Hearts and Helping Hands” March 1 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Stillwater Elementary.
“The tragedy in Connecticut broke the hearts of people all across America,” says Madigan. “These types of tragedies cannot continue and reform must take place in our nation’s capital to heal these hearts and shattered lives.
“Early identification and ongoing counseling services need to be available in our schools to help students with mental health issues learn to cope and prosper in our community.
“Please draw, paint, or sketch a picture of your broken heart and send it to Congress along with the message to fix our hearts and address the glaring need for real reform in America.
“You can also join us in our random acts of kindness campaign to honor those beautiful children and caring adults lost in the tragedy.
“Commit yourself to performing 26 random acts of kindness in the name of each victim. Share your broken heart with others so it may be restored.
“Ask others to join in this campaign for healing and send their broken hearts into Congress and join ours in remembrance and action for safer schools. 26 random acts of kindness in memory of Sandy Hook students.”
