Zazynia Mediterranean Grill

December 2, 2011 By Connie 2 Comments

I have had the privilege of knowing Allison and Mohamed Elbahouty for several years. From the first moment I met them, I knew I had made a connection with some very special people. They are two of the warmest, kindest people you would ever want to meet.

Allison and Mohamed are the owners of Zazynia, an authentic Mediterranean Grill Restaurant, located in Duvall. (Pronounced, Zaw-zen-ia). Their restaurant is warm, quaint and welcoming and so are Allison and Mohamed. They have many delicious items on their menu but their most popular items are their Gyros. (Pronounced year-os) Mohamed, who is the chef, makes three different types of Gyros. He offers the traditional beef and lamb Gyros, chicken Gyros, and veggie Gyros. My personal favorite is the Chicken Gyro. It is delicious, and also a little messy to eat because, it is loaded with wonderful ingredients. My kids love them as well!

I chose Zazynia, for my first spotlight business for two reasons. One, I think Allison and Mohamed truly represent a genuine, hard working family, trying to have a successful business in a small town. The second reason is because of a Random Act of Kindness that happened to their family. During one of Duvall’s Random Acts of Kindness Weeks, Allison and Mohamed went to the Family Grocer to pick up their weekly grocery order. When they went to pay for their groceries, they were told that someone had pre-paid their bill. This was a huge Random Act of Kindness! It’s not surprising that it took place in our wonderful town of Duvall! Of all of the local RAKs I have heard about, this is my absolute favorite one!

Allison and Mohamed opened Zazynia in January, 2006. They moved from New York where Mohamed was a part owner in a restaurant. They moved to Duvall, with their kids, to be closer to Allison’s family. Allison, who used to work side by side with Mohamed at Zazynia, now has her hands full, raising their ten month old son. Their daughter now works at Zazynia, in the evenings, to help out her parents. This is truly a family business.

Allison and Mohamed are so grateful and appreciative of their regular customers. They feel supported and cared for by their customers. Because of this, they feel like they are a part of something very special, in Duvall.

If you are looking for a wonderful, local place to eat. I highly recommend Zazynia. You can check them out online at www.zazynia.com. Dine Out in Duvall and ENJOY!!!!!!

    Connie,
My family LOVES Zazynia! I CRAVE the Greek Salad and with our family’s allergies, Allison and family make sure to personalize our meals to our needs.
We eat there often enough, I call in to order for pick-up and say, “It’s Nat, calling in with our allergy order” and they know every one of our allergies and preferences!
It’s special to feel like a ‘regular’ and support an AWESOME spot in our community!
Oh, and their Baklava is the BEST!!!!
    THANK YOU, Elbahouty’s!

I only stepped into Zazynia about three years ago. Boy had I been missng out. I’ve been a fairly regular visitor ever since. The food is very good and exceeds what you might expect from such a modest storefront. I always feel welcome.

Connie Berg, RAK Duvall Founder

In 2001, I was given some devastating news from my doctor at Evergreen Hospital. I ran into the bathroom crying. A complete stranger saw how upset I was and even though had no idea why I was crying, she just handed me two angel coins and gave me a small hug. I don’t even think she said anything to me. That small Act of Kindness forever changed my life. Since then, I have been “paying it forward” whenever possible. A small act of kindness can literally be life changing, it was for me!
